welcome to the City of Liverpool International Open Wheelchair Table Tennis Tournament 2003
The first Liverpool Wheelchair Table Tennis International Open took place at The Greenbank Sports Academy, Liverpool. England.7th. 8th. & 9th. November 2003. The tournament, supported by the National Lottery Awards for All and Liverpool City Council, involved the participation of 99 players from 19 countries, as far away as Japan and as near as Ireland and Liverpool. The tournament was the last qualifying World Ranking tournament for the Paralympic games This photo record of the first International Wheelchair Open Tournament to take place in Liverpool, compiled and presented by the Liverpool & District Table Tennis League Magazine Editor. Even though 60 + photographs are used, some of the 99 contestants from around the world, are not shown, as it was impossible to cover every event in what turned out to be a very complex tournament. The Main Hall at The Greenbank Academy The tournament was a triumph for the organisers, proving Greenbank Sports Acadamy as a World class venue, while being superbly supported by the Merseyside and North West region as a whole. Everybody who took part can feel proud.
